yo ✌️

when i started building this site, it was probably my 10th attempt at creating a "blog."" previous attempts included a tech blog, a productivity blog, a career advice blog, among others...

no matter what i tried, it never stuck.

all of my previous attempts had two things in common – i was trying to make money, and i didn't really care about what i was building. now, i want to be very clear both for your and my own sake:

i am creating this for my own enjoyment.

this site is for me...

  • i am going to write about things that i like... you aren't guaranteed to also like them.
  • i am going to update this site on my time frame... you aren't guaranteed some content generation machine. if you want that there's plenty of ai slop awaiting you on youtube and tiktok.
  • i am going to post projects that i find interesting... you aren't guaranteed to find them "impressive", "star-worthy", or "hirable material." if you're a recruiter who would prefer to judge me based on a silly website, we probably shouldn't work together.
  • i am building this with a go and htmx, a tech stack that i find enjoyable... this isn't some charged comment on what tech stacks i feel competent using.

my hope is that this authenticity is attractive to you, whoever you may be. however, i am not trying to make money, likes, product placements, job applications, or fans through this. i am trying to make something that i am proud of and that i enjoy maintaining. i am trying to focus on the production of this, not the consumption.

selfishly,

- andrew
